Exclusive Interview with Robert H. Marshall Jr.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert H. Marshall Jr.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

My path to where I am today was built upon sacrifice, diligent work, heartbreak, and a few really awesome moments. As I traveled toward wholeness, I had mentors and encouragers. Being the first person in my family to attend college, I decided that I was determined to change the trajectory of my life and family history. In addition to being my rock, my wife has assisted me in developing the framework for empowering boys and men who are struggling with adverse childhood and traumatic life experiences.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

As a child, I suffered from fatherlessness, bullying, poverty, and sexual abuse. At one point in my life, I was sleeping on the floor of my friend’s mom’s house with the family dog. Before getting married, my wife and I had nothing. At times, we weren’t sure how we would provide food or pay our rent. Our first son was born, and we could not afford his basic necessities even though we both had college degrees. There were times when we didn’t know how we were able to survive. Despite all this, we made a pact to earn and build everything we were meant to have in this world together.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

The work I do revolves around assisting boys and men to overcome adverse childhood experiences and traumatic life events. I am dedicated to supporting boys and men on their journeys to become the highest versions of themselves. I do this by hosting events, Motivational speaking, and through books. In my newly released children’s book, Little Brown Boy You Can Do All You Set Your Mind To, I empower young readers to dream high and even dream bigger. The book enables young readers to be proud of their own skin without reservation. I am also excited about a brand-new project entitled Echoes, which documents the stories of male survivors of sexual trauma. Truthfully, I do not consider myself to be in competition with anyone else. As far as I’m concerned, I am my biggest competition at this point in my life, and I am confident we can all win. I believe that when we find out who we are and what we are meant to do and be, there is no limit to what we can accomplish. I strongly believe there is enough world for everyone to succeed and I want to see everyone succeed.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Allow your hustle to whisper and your success to roar from within. Having the capability to become anything you desire is only limited by your ability to silence all the voices that spread doubt, confusion, and shame. These voices limit your success and prevent you from pursuing your own purpose. According to Dr. Eric Thomas, success will only exist in your mind until you want to succeed as badly as you need to breathe. Success can’t be drifted or stumbled into; you have to commit yourself to achieve it and believe that you can.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success is looking within and being happy with what you find. It’s knowing you are enough outside of your possessions, network, and net-worth. It’s silencing your fears and strengthening your innate ability to believe beyond your physical, emotional, or psychological boundaries.

What’s next for you?

I am looking forward to touring with Little Brown Boy to ignite the hopes and dreams of little brown boys around the world. I’m also looking to release our Echoes book and documentary that will highlight the silenced stories of male survivors of sexual trauma.

Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?
