Today we’d like to introduce you to Willie Franks.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
First off, I’d like to thank you for the opportunity to share my story with the world. As stated before, my name is Willie Franks. I’m the Owner/CEO of Franks International Footwear, Inc. We specialize in custom luxury footwear for both men and women. I started my business back in 2016 with the expectations of global dominance, but little did I know that 1 year later I would be closing my business down, filing bankruptcy and suffering from a severe back injury. I guess this is what you call life lol. After spending 2 years trying to get back in the workforce with little success, I stepped out of faith and restarted my business July 2019. This time I took the online approach bypassing the brick-and-mortar. I guess you could say I learned from my mistakes. I took a more strategic approach and God has blessed me beyond measures. Since restarting my business I’ve been able to reach more clients and have gained grounds internationally. I’ve also been blessed to have several celebrity clients and approached by several television networks to have my products featured.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
I’ve had several hurdles to overcome through my entrepreneurial journey. I can honestly say that I’ve learned many lessons in this venture, but the one success that I have overshadows all of the hurt, rejection, and disappointment. I know what it’s like going to the back with a business planned approved by SBA counselor and good credit only to be told no. I know what it’s like to seek investors only to be turned down. I know what it’s like to have a dream and the dream is deferred. I know what it’s like to feel lost and wanting to throw in the towel. The hardships I’ve faced on the journey hit me in the beginning and if I lacked determination then I would have completely giving up.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
So, we specialize in making custom footwear for men and women. Collectively we have about 6o+ styles from loafers, oxfords, boots, sneakers, booties, pumps, & flats. We also have duffle backs, travel bags, briefcases, totes and our World Famous Franks Bag. All of our items are handmade and made to order. We also specialize in a unique style of art applied to footwear called Patina. In our Patina Workshop we have a small group of artists that actually hand paint unique color patterns on our products giving them eye dropping attention. I almost forgot to mention that we just released our mechanical watch collection called the Franks Timepiece.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
I answer this question and honestly all of my questions from experience and not what I’ve read in a book. So with that being said, the best advice I’d give is to never give up on you or your dreams. Success is a seed and the more you water it, the more it grows. What I mean by watering is taking the necessary steps to ensure that you are well versed and prepared to face the difficulties to endure the journey. Water also means that you have to have the mental fortitude to overcome the negativity that comes with life. Remember…you were born with the ability to create!!!
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Everyone has their own interpretation of success but it’s simple to me. I define success as being able to live your life on your terms.
