There’s a moment in every artist’s story when the hobby becomes a commitment. For FRE$HDRiPSMUD, that moment came when he packed up his life in Sharon, Pennsylvania, and moved to Los Angeles with one goal: to take his music seriously.
“That was a turning point — leaving what I knew and betting on myself,” he says. “Being out here put me in a different environment, around different energy, and it pushed me to grow both as an artist and as a person.”
Now based in LA, the rapper and songwriter is carving out a lane on his own terms. He’s fully independent, releasing music through his own label, SANiiTY, and building a catalog grounded in what he calls real-life experience: pain, growth, resilience and confidence.
Who Is FRE$HDRiPSMUD?
Ask FRE$HDRiPSMUD to describe his sound, and he’ll tell you it lives somewhere between melodic and gritty. Some records lean laid-back and atmospheric. Others hit with raw, unfiltered energy. The thread connecting them is honesty.
“At its core, it’s authentic music — something people can feel, relate to, and connect with in different moments of their lives,” he explains.
His influences reflect that range. He points to Nipsey Hussle for his mindset and his emphasis on ownership, Jay-Z for showing how an artist can build something bigger than music, and Drake for melodic versatility and emotional range. Those lessons show up not just in his songs but in how he runs his career.
Staying independent was a deliberate choice. “I’ve always believed in building something that’s truly mine,” he says. “Being independent allows me to move with intention, stay authentic, and create without limits.”
The Za Walkers and ‘Press Yo Luck’
While he’s building his solo profile, FRE$HDRiPSMUD is also one part of The Za Walkers, a group where he says the chemistry comes naturally. His approach to collaboration is simple: don’t force it.
“It’s all about the energy in the room,” he says. “The best records usually come from catching a vibe and building off each other naturally.”
That philosophy produced one of his latest releases, “Press Yo Luck,” a Za Walkers track built on the same gritty-meets-melodic blend that defines his solo work. The song came together in the moment, with the group feeding off one another in the studio. Its message is about taking risks and trusting yourself regardless of the outcome, a theme that mirrors his own leap from Pennsylvania to the West Coast.
“The message behind it is about trusting yourself, staying confident, and not being afraid to take chances,” he says, “because that’s what growth really comes from.”
Staying Sane in a Competitive Industry
The road hasn’t been easy. Building everything independently means juggling finances, everyday life and the constant pressure to create at a high level. He’s also dealt with personal losses that, in his words, forced him to grow mentally and stay focused.
That’s where the philosophy behind his label’s name comes in. For FRE$HDRiPSMUD, “stay sane” is more than a slogan. It’s a way of moving through the world.
“Just staying grounded through everything and not letting the pressure break you,” he says.
He stays motivated by tuning out comparison and focusing on his own journey, and he keeps creating even on the days he doesn’t feel like it. While he pays attention to the broader culture, he’s careful not to let trends steer his writing. “Trends come and go,” he says, “but real music lasts — and that’s what I focus on.”
Above all, he wants listeners to feel understood. “I want listeners to hear it and know they’re not alone in what they’re going through,” he says. “At the same time, I want to motivate people to keep pushing and stay focused on what they’re building.”
Looking ahead, his plans include consistent releases, a growing global audience, continued work with The Za Walkers and developing SANiiTY into a full brand representing a mindset and a lifestyle. Longevity is the goal.
“This isn’t about quick moments, it’s about building something that lasts,” he says. “If you’re tapped in now, you’re a part of that journey. Stay locked in, and most importantly — stay sane through everything life throws at you.”
