Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Manfre.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
Pleasure speaking with you today. My name is Mike Manfre, I’m a 38-year-old Entrepreneur, I live in Salt Lake City, Utah with my fiance and three-year-old daughter. I became a self-made millionaire by building a fitness and nutrition coaching business solely focused on improving the lives of our clients. I feel very fortunate to have found success doing something I’m insanely passionate about.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
Growing up my family didn’t have a lot of money, but my parents did the best they could raising me and my two siblings on a tight budget. Growing up watching my parents struggle financially made me realize I did not want that same lifestyle as an adult. My parents saw that and were very supportive of me following my dreams. In high school I played sports and worked part time. Many of my peers did not work, but I really wanted my own money and to be independent.
After high school I decided to become a personal trainer, being fit and active was extremely important to me. The money was not very good as a trainer, so I took a leap of faith and decided to apply to the sheriff’s office. A few years in I noticed a shift, I was slowly becoming a negative person. I needed something new, my happiness was declining and truthfully, I wasn’t doing well financially.
In 2011, I took my girlfriend to a movie. When I went to buy our movie tickets, my debit card got declined. I was extremely embarrassed. That night was the defining moment that made me realize I needed to change the trajectory of my life. I was not going to struggle financially the rest of my life as my parents did.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
Over the last 10 years, I’ve built my fitness and nutrition business up from 1 client to several hundred clients. I went from a nobody in the industry to the number 1 rated nutritionist in Utah. However, those vanity metrics are not what I’m proud of. The real win is the satisfaction I get from helping people change their lives. Clients often come to as a last resort, they’ve tried “everything” but have never been able to have long term results. Clients telling me that they’ve lost 50 lbs and can now run around and play with their children is the type of stuff that sustains my passion for the business.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
There’s only 3 things you need to focus on in your life to find success. Be consistent, get a mentor, and keep it simple. Consistency is absolutely crucial, do not give up when you fail and times are tough. Get a mentor! It’s very hard to do anything great on your own, but if you can find someone who’s already had success and is passionate about what you want to do, become friends with that person and do what they do. Keep it simple, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. Taking baby steps is the only way to reach your goals. Nobody is born with abs, and if you’re not born with a silver spoon in your mouth, nobody is born a millionaire. It takes baby steps to reach that level of success. Write down your goals and list out the steps you will need to take to reach them. You can’t get to a million without making 100k first!
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success is the ability to do what you’re passionate about every day. In my eye’s success has nothing to do with money, or how many followers you have. Success is being a hero in my daughters’ eyes, service to others, and making a positive impact on my local community. I also think success is a moving target. Once you think you’re successful, you’ll stop learning, growing, and striving to reach that next level.
What’s next for you?
This year I plan to expand my circle of influence. I really want to impact people on a national scale. My team is working on booking me more speaking engagements and I’m excited to impact more lives in a positive way. Every day I work on being a better version of myself, a better husband and father, a better coach and mentor, and a better businessman.
