Today we’d like to introduce you to Kadena Tate-Simon.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
It’s been quite a journey, and it all started with the decision to join the United States Air Force. I served for 4 years as a radiology technician, and it was during that time that I realized I had a passion for helping others. After leaving the military, I began my career in aviation and spent 20 years working in various roles including reservations agent, ticket counter agent, customer service trainer, group sales, and more. In 2005, I made the switch to real estate and became a broker, marketing strategist, business model designer and revenue strategist.
It’s been an amazing journey, and I’m grateful for everything that has led me to this point.
Today, I continue to use my skills and experience to help association executives, authors, coaches and speakers create movements, masterminds, and membership programs.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
For many years, I was a hypocrite in every sense of the word because my words and actions did not align.
I told my clients that their three most valuable assets as entrepreneurs were their time, undivided attention and intellectual capital, yet I squandered mine. My perfectionist tendencies kept me in a state of mediocrity. I would tell my clients “Stand in your power. You deserve to be compensated for the value that you bring to the table.” Yet, I coached them for little to nothing. I would tell my clients “Be loud and proud about the value you bring.” Yet, I was terrified to be seen and heard because I struggled with people-pleasing, over-giving and under-earning.
I would teach my clients how to productize and monetize their expertise, but my expertise was not packaged and showcased because it was hidden in a desk drawer, awaiting perfection. Let’s get down to the dirty nitty gritty, I had nothing but the drama going on in my thought life. I was besieged with thoughts that ranged from “I can’t do it because …I’m black, I’m a woman, I’m short, I’m overweight, I wear glasses, I wear braces, I’ve been through bankruptcy and foreclosure, I’m divorced, etc.” You name a self defeating thought, and I had it. I would not take action unless it was perfect. I was plagued with thoughts that I could never be, do or have enough. Hiring a therapist and biz coach propelled me into my destiny.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
Although criticism and praise can be valuable, please do not look outside of yourself for affirmation, validation, success or confirmation of worth. Success is an internal journey, and it requires a deep understanding of yourself and what you truly want. Remember that you are the only one who can define your own success – so trust your instincts, focus on your goals, and embrace a growth mindset in everything you do. With time, patience, and commitment, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. And remember – it’s not just about chasing external markers of success like money or status; true fulfillment comes from within. So take charge of your own journey, and start creating a life + business that loves and supports you!
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
In short, I am successful everytime I cultivate the courage to be who I really am and speak my truth—no matter what. I am successful when I do not apologize for being who I am, for being unique and different, for what I believe in, what I stand for, and what I desire—for myself, for my loved ones and for the world.
The longer version – Success, to me, is about trusting your journey and following your heart. It’s about being willing to take risks, push yourself outside of your comfort zone, and make the most of every opportunity that comes your way. It’s about recognizing that setbacks and failures are all a part of the process, and that with persistence and resilience you can overcome any challenge.
At the end of the day, success is not just measured in terms of money or prestige or worldly accolades. Instead, it is rooted in our ability to feel fulfilled, happy, satisfied with our lives—and to know that we have made a positive impact on those around us as well. So if you want to be successful in life, never stop growing and learning, never stop pushing yourself to be the best version of yourself, and never lose sight of your vision and what truly matters to you. When you have that mindset, success will find you.
