Nosa BSB Is Betting on Himself, One Single at a Time

For a lot of young rappers, the dream still starts and ends with a record deal. For Nosa BSB, that dream changed somewhere along the way.

The New Jersey-based independent hip-hop artist, who works out of the greater New York and New Jersey area, has spent the past few years building a career on his own terms. He funds his own records, picks his own producers, and releases music on his own timeline. So far this year, he has dropped five singles, the latest of which, “Money Fiend,” serves as a pretty clear statement of where his head is at.

“If I’m addicted to one thing, it’s leveling up my hustle,” he said. “I’m a straight-up fiend for self-improvement.”

From a “Love Sosa” Remix to Five Singles a Year

Like many artists of his generation, Nosa BSB can trace his sound back to a handful of rap’s defining figures. He names three: 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, and Chief Keef.

50 Cent came first. He was drawn in by the melodies and hooks, but it was Get Rich or Die Tryin’ that turned him into a lifelong fan. He said he saw himself in 50’s hunger and his relentless drive to make it. As he got older, Lil Wayne took over, and Wayne’s swagger, sense of fashion, and wordplay shaped how he thinks about writing bars.

Chief Keef arrived right when music started to feel serious. Keef’s drill beats and hooks hit at the perfect moment, and a remix of “Love Sosa” that he played at school got a reaction from classmates that he hasn’t forgotten. That response, he said, locked him in and pushed him to start releasing music consistently.

Today, his approach is intentionally stripped down. He favors melody and mood over dense, complicated lyricism, arguing that a good melody sticks with listeners before they even realize it. The themes are hustle, motivation, and a taste for the finer things. Fashion runs through everything, and he describes his music as a way of manifesting the life he wants.

He’s also selective about collaborations. He’s open to working with other artists when the energy is right, but he’d rather lock in with a producer and sharpen his own sound than chase features for appearances.

Why Nosa BSB Chose Independence Over a Label

The biggest obstacle in his career, he said, has been money. Making records that can compete at the highest level is expensive, and for an unsigned artist there’s no advance to lean on.

His answer was to work harder and generate the capital himself. Somewhere in that process, his thinking about labels shifted. “While I used to think a record deal was the ultimate goal, over time I’ve realized that creative freedom means everything to me,” he said. Instead of waiting for someone else to invest in him, he decided to invest in himself.

That independence shows up in how he talks about his catalog. He calls his music a live timeline of his life, with the songs, photoshoots, and visuals together forming a kind of time capsule of how his mindset has grown. His earliest records were strictly about the grind. As he got older and more immersed in fashion, that grit merged with an emphasis on style, and the result is the version of Nosa BSB listeners hear today: still chasing the bag, but looking fly while doing it.

Asked where his drive comes from, he doesn’t try to overexplain it. “I’m just naturally wired with that drive,” he said. “I know we only get one shot at this.”

A Message Built on Resilience

For all the talk of money and luxury, the core of his music is a message he wants listeners to take personally: where you start doesn’t decide where you end up.

He says his songs are meant to encourage persistence and staying true to your vision, and to remind people that they deserve the chance to chase their dreams. “Shoot for the stars,” he said, “because you just might become one.”

He’s equally clear about who the music is for. When asked about his most memorable moments as an artist, he pointed not to a show or a studio session but to the genuine reactions from fans and supporters. Seeing a song connect with people, he said, is the whole reason he does it.

As for what’s next, Nosa BSB is keeping his plans close. He’d rather let his moves speak for themselves. His advice to anyone curious is simple: stay tuned, because there’s a lot more on the way.
