The Best Is Yet To Come: A Conversation With Cornell R. Miller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cornell Miller.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

I am an identical triplet from Saint Louis, MO, and growing up I was always influenced by the arts, whether that be musical or visual. My mom told us working for someone else isn’t the way, to find a way to work for yourself. I would always replay that in my head no many how many jobs I had. But, the thing is I never short changed jobs because worth ethic is very important and I knew it would carry on to whatever endeavors I had. And that’s how I became an entrepreneur starting the various ventures that I have today.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

Growing up in Saint Louis had many obstacles. We grew up in the 1980s when crime was absolutely ridiculous in St. Louis. Being a triplet we were already considered a gang. During this time simple colors could get you killed and killed fast. We also had segregation issues in the city. The city was heavily divided by race and this issue persists, even today. One thing I tell people, is that yesterday has prepared us for today. Whatever obstacles we go through is a training course for the future. It hurts sometimes but it’s part of our growth.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I have a few ventures that I am working on currently. First, we have WarDrobe Designs, a deign company that creates innovative products. I created and patented a skateboard accessory called Skinz, which allows the rider to interchange their designs on the bottom of their skateboard deck without removing the wheels and trucks. By using velcro this can be done in seconds. This skateboard is specifically for beginner skaters who are learning how to kick and push. It’s a fun board and concept. This skateboard is different from the other cruiser boards due to the riders ability to change designs like they do their clothes. They can switch Skinz with their friends, trade them, and even design their own custom skin. This will definitely be a hit among the new generation of skateboarders.

I have also created a tattered teddy bear named Kharma, whom helps kids deal with bullying and the perils that life brings. We are working on a live action film called KharmasRedemption, that displays Kharma in action dealing with bullies and helping the bullied yet, understanding that both can be victims. The name of this company is KharmasRevenge and we also have a 501c3 non profit organization named the KR Fondation, which specializes in bullying awareness.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

My advice to anyone who desires to find success is to live life to the absolute fullest and don’t be afraid to fail. There is so much going on right now in the world people don’t take the time out to enjoy the journey that they are on. We have to understand that the journey is just as important as the goal. I tell people often to pat yourself on the back often, because life is not always peaches and cream. Falling is ok. Failing is ok. Losing is ok. Hurting is ok. Anyone can dance in the sun but, can you do that same dance and have in the rain. As we continue to live our perspectives will continue to change. The definition of success will continue to change in life, just be able to adapt and change with it.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success is being genuinely happy. Knowing deep in your heart that you are happy and no one can determine that but you. We live in a day and age where everything has to be instant and everyone thinks success is based on monetary gain or material things, and for some people that is very true. Success to me is knowing I’ve given it my all when chasing my dreams and loving those who I care about at all times.

What’s next for you?

Next, I’m working on opening up collaborative opportunities for our skateboard brand WarDrobe Designs. We really want to work with creators, kids, and designers of all backgrounds. Up and coming as well as established. I am also working on a children’s book, an animation project, healthy food brand, and toys. I just want to continue push positivity and through our children we definitely can do that!
