From Pain to Purpose: How Nick Edwards Built “My Leadership Coach” Into a Movement

When Nick Edwards walked away from his corporate career to launch My Leadership Coach, it wasn’t about chasing prestige or building a flashy brand. It was about answering a calling born from both success and struggle.

“I watched too many leaders with big dreams but no clear framework achieve less than desirable results,” Edwards recalls. “My pain became the fuel that clarified my true calling: to empower leaders, strengthen teams, and shape legacies.”

That conviction pushed him to develop a coaching platform that serves business owners, executives, and entrepreneurs with life, leadership, and executive business coaching. But as with any entrepreneurial leap, the journey wasn’t without challenges.

The Struggle to Market Himself

Like many service-based entrepreneurs, Edwards’ earliest challenge wasn’t the value he offered—it was communicating that value.

“As a business coach, I struggled to help people clearly see the problems they were experiencing and how I could add value,” he admits. “I felt like I had to market myself more than a product. Internally, that felt egotistical and not who I wanted to be.”

Marketing, he acknowledges, remains one of the toughest aspects of his business. Yet persistence—and an emerging reputation—changed everything.

The Pivotal Leap

The tipping point came when referrals began rolling in faster than Edwards could handle. Balancing coaching clients with his full-time job was unsustainable.

“It was that moment that set a date, quit my job, and go all in,” he says.

That leap of faith marked the true beginning of My Leadership Coach—and the validation that his systems for clarity, growth, and transformation were making an impact.

Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

When asked what he would tell those just starting out, Edwards doesn’t hesitate.

“I believe there are three key components for success,” he explains.

  1. Define your destination. Know what you want and what success will look like.

  2. Get started. There is no success without action.

  3. Don’t stop. Resistance always precedes results, so persistence is non-negotiable.

“Define your destination. Get started. Don’t stop,” he emphasizes—a mantra he carries into his own coaching practice.

Redefining Work-Life Balance

For Edwards, traditional notions of work-life balance miss the mark.

“Work-life balance is a myth,” he says. “The goal is not balance but mastery. The key is to be fully present where you are. If you win at business and lose at home…you lose.”

His strategy to avoid burnout comes down to three principles:

  • Learn something new every day

  • Be intentional with your time and energy

  • Add value to every conversation

Clarity, focus, and purpose, he says, are the antidotes to stress and the safeguards against burnout.

What’s Next for My Leadership Coach

Looking ahead, Edwards is preparing to expand his reach through both publishing and media. His upcoming book, Big Dream, Small Steps, is in its final stages and set to release soon.

“This book is about challenging leaders to dream bigger and giving them practical steps to achieve greater results,” he explains.

In fall 2025, he will also debut Leading Forward, a podcast exploring leadership through the lens of faith. The show will feature business owners and entrepreneurs who’ve leveraged their values and faith to achieve remarkable success.

The Bottom Line

Nick Edwards’ journey illustrates that the most powerful brands often emerge from a deeply personal mission. For Edwards, My Leadership Coach isn’t just a business—it’s a movement to equip leaders, transform organizations, and build legacies that last.
