In a cultural moment defined by rapid change and generational tension, a new documentary is choosing to slow down and listen. Raquel, founder of Raqvision LLC, is leading a project that challenges how society engages with younger voices. Her upcoming film, I Hear You, Gen Z, shifts the focus from commentary to conversation, offering a platform for a generation often spoken about but rarely heard.
A Journey Built on Listening
The foundation of the documentary is rooted in direct human connection. Raquel traveled across the country in an RV, meeting young people aged 16 to 26 and inviting them into open, unfiltered dialogue. These conversations were not guided by scripts or predetermined outcomes. Instead, they created space for honesty, vulnerability, and reflection.
This immersive approach allows the film to capture a wide range of perspectives, revealing the diverse realities shaping Gen Z today. From personal struggles to aspirations for the future, each story contributes to a broader narrative that feels both intimate and universal.
Raquel’s experience in youth engagement extends beyond the film. Through more than 160 conversations with Gen Z, she has consistently prioritized listening as a tool for understanding. She also hosts two podcasts dedicated to amplifying youth voices. Raq The Boat features guests under 18, while Rated Gen Z highlights conversations with individuals ages 18 to 26, further expanding her mission to create meaningful dialogue across different stages of youth development.
Redefining the Narrative Around a Generation
For years, Gen Z has been analyzed through statistics, trends, and external commentary. While these perspectives offer insight, they often overlook the human stories behind the data.
I Hear You, Gen Z takes a different approach. By centering real voices, the documentary reframes the conversation, allowing young people to define their own experiences. It addresses critical themes such as mental health, societal pressure, and uncertainty, not through interpretation, but through firsthand accounts.
“The most powerful thing an adult can do right now is stop talking and start listening. That’s what this film is about,” Raquel shares.
This philosophy underscores the film’s purpose, emphasizing empathy over assumption.
Storytelling with Purpose and Impact
The project is brought to life in collaboration with filmmakers Brian Mulvey and Seth Tucker, who worked closely with Raquel to document these conversations. Together, they amplify the voices of approximately 30 participants, each offering a unique lens into the Gen Z experience.
Raqvision LLC, the company behind the documentary, is dedicated to youth empowerment through media and storytelling. Based in San Diego, the organization creates content designed to uplift and validate the perspectives of young people, fostering a culture of listening and respect.
Anticipating the Release
Scheduled for release in summer 2026, the documentary is currently being positioned for streaming platforms and film festival circuits. While distribution details are still evolving, its relevance is undeniable.
As conversations about generational divides continue, I Hear You, Gen Z offers a timely reminder. Understanding begins not with speaking louder, but with listening more closely.
