When nurse practitioners Brittany Delaney and Chrissy Akins walked away from stable corporate jobs, they weren’t chasing titles or corner offices. They were chasing freedom—the freedom to practice medicine on their own terms.
“We built clinics for someone else and knew we could build them for ourselves,” Akins recalls. “But this time, we wanted to do it better.”
That leap of faith became Inicio Wellness, a name that means “a new beginning” in Latin—symbolizing both their personal reinvention and the wellness journey they envision for every patient. What started as a small telehealth operation quickly gained momentum, expanding into a full-service clinic offering holistic, patient-centered care that prioritizes individual well-being over corporate metrics.
Breaking Through Business Barriers
Neither founder had a business degree, and navigating the legal, operational, and marketing demands of launching a clinic was daunting. Yet they approached it with the same drive that fueled their medical careers—researching compliance laws, seeking mentorship, and tirelessly promoting their services locally.
“We learned that if you deliver excellent care, word of mouth becomes your best marketing,” Akins explains.
Game-Changing Support
Two pivotal moments helped propel their growth: joining the Chamber of Commerce, which gave them visibility and confidence, and finding their supervising physician, Dr. Amir Baluch—a seasoned entrepreneur who became a mentor as well as a medical advisor.
“He gave us more than oversight,” Delaney says. “He gave us belief in what we could build.”
Building a Sustainable Vision
Now, they’re expanding services to Utah and exploring personalized medicine through genotyping and wellness tracking partnerships like InsideTracker. Their mission is clear: scale without sacrificing intimacy—preserving the personal connection that set them apart from day one.
