When Dr. Jimmy J. Davies first laid eyes on a Macintosh computer back in 1987, he didn’t own one. He didn’t even know how to use one. But what he did have was passion. And that passion has powered his purpose-driven journey for nearly four decades—shaping a visionary path that now reaches across continents.
Today, Dr. Davies is the founder of Every.Black, a global tech and entrepreneur ecosystem built to educate, empower, and elevate Black business owners with technology training, artificial intelligence (AI) strategies, and meaningful connections. It’s more than a company—it’s a movement.
From Curiosity to a Calling
Dr. Davies’ journey began with a simple introduction. “A friend showed me a Macintosh computer, and it changed my life,” he recalls. By January 1988, he launched a computer training service that eventually expanded into 40 cities across 12 states, educating over 10,000 people. The kicker? He did it all without owning a computer of his own in the beginning.
“I read the manuals and practiced on my clients’ machines. I even took a job at a local computer store just to be around the equipment,” Davies shares. “I sold my car to fund ads to grow the business. I bet on myself—and I kept going.”
Seeing the Gap—and Building a Bridge
Through all his years in training and development, Dr. Davies noticed something alarming: very few people of color were in the rooms where digital futures were being built.
“That bothered me. I wasn’t seeing us learning or leveraging these tools. And I knew that had to change,” he says.
Inspired by legendary entrepreneur Dr. Joe L. Dudley, Sr.—whose legacy project he was commissioned to document—Dr. Davies shifted gears in 2018 and founded Every.Black, a digital community and tech training platform. Its mission? To close the income and wealth gap by equipping Black entrepreneurs with the tools, training, and tech to compete globally.
Every.Black: Where AI Meets Access
From artificial intelligence workshops to ChatGPT training, Every.Black offers something few platforms do: high-touch education for entrepreneurs over 50 who may feel left behind by today’s fast-moving digital world.
“I’ve been told Every.Black is the world’s best-kept secret,” Davies says.
“But we’re changing that. Entrepreneurs can’t afford to sit on the sidelines when it comes to tech. Whether it’s AI, automation, or networking—we’ve built a space for them to learn, grow, and build wealth.”
The platform doesn’t stop at tech training. It’s also a hub for global networking, connecting entrepreneurs across the U.S., Africa, and the Caribbean. Its virtual events, classes, and collaborations create what Dr. Davies calls “cross-continental conversations that lead to commerce.”
Purpose Fueled by Perseverance
Dr. Davies’ story is one of grit. He’s gone from self-taught trainer to a technology trailblazer with an honorary doctorate from the National Beauty Culturist League for his digital advocacy work. He even created the African American Information Network on Apple’s now-retired eWorld service—laying the early groundwork for what would eventually become Every.Black.
And through it all, one belief has remained constant: mentorship matters.
“I’ve had amazing mentors. And I’m paying it forward,” he explains. “Our community doesn’t need more motivation—we need method. Every.Black gives them both.”
The Vision Ahead
Looking forward, Dr. Davies envisions Every.Black as the go-to global community for entrepreneurs of African descent—a platform where tech meets legacy and learning leads to wealth-building.
He puts it plainly: “When there is change, there is opportunity. And since change is constant, there is always opportunity.”
The hustle is real. But with leaders like Dr. Jimmy J. Davies lighting the way, the future is Black, brilliant, and built to last.
